In case you haven't seen it, Paul Gipe has another article (and a great presentation link in this article) on his website. The article deals with a proposal to install 1 Million MW of wind turbine capacity ASAP:

This 1 TW (terawatt) of capacity would produce an average of about 300 GW of output at the (for Iowa) low average yield of 30% of capacity. Since the total US demand is 450 GW...well, that's a start. It's also a great way to do a Keynsian Stimulus, something that the US economy (and the world economy, for that matter) really needs right now.
