Ways Through Which The Atmosphere Can Be Protected
Climate change is now a topical issue in the world today. It does not concern one country but the entire world. There is no country that is not affected the problem of global warming, though some countries are more affected than others. Global warming is the dangerous consequences of civilisation and industrialization. It is largely caused by the depletion of the ozone layer by the carbon dioxide emitted regularly to the atmosphere by the industries, automotives, machines used for various reasons and also wildfire. There is need for everybody to join hand together in conserving the climate. There are means through which depletion of the ozone layer can be forestalled.
Reduction of the Emission of Carbon Dioxide
Carbon dioxide emitted in the atmosphere on the daily basis is the major cause of the depletion of the ozone layer. This chemical pieces the ozone layer and then creating more holes in it. This leaves the earth without cover again. The ultraviolent rays from the sun enter the earth directly. These rays though can be beneficial to man to a certain, have damaging effect on man and the climate. They can cause sunburn and skin cancer. Overexposure of the body to them can also facilitate the aging process.
In the light of the above there should be effort in all corners to make sure that emission of carbon is eliminated. Good fuel that burns very well with little amount of impurities should be used. Every vehicle on the road should have exhaust filter that filters the exhaust gas. Industries also should use improved technology that addresses the issue of emission of carbon to the atmosphere. If the above measure can be taken by everybody the amount of carbon that goes into the atmosphere should be eliminated.
Afforestation
Trees are very important for man. They have a number of economic importance to man. Consequently, there is the tendency for man to cut down big trees for economic purposes. In as much as trees can be used for various reasons deforestation should be done with caution.
One of the best means of conserving the climate is through afforestation. Afforestation means planting of trees. The study of biology has revealed that trees make use of carbon dioxide just as human beings make use of oxygen. This explains why afforestation is very important in dealing with climate change. Trees store a good quantity of carbon dioxide which should have gone into the atmosphere. This is why afforestation is proffered as a solution to the problem of climate change. As trees are being cut for economic purposes they should be also replaced with new ones.
Bush Burning
In the uncivilized society where agriculture is still done with traditional means bush burning is still practiced. Some of these countries have not started practicing mechanized agriculture. Farmers still rely on bush burning as a means of clearing tick forest. Bush burning for whatever reason should not be encouraged by any government due to its effect on the atmosphere. Besides, bush burning can also lead to the elimination of endangered species.
