Affect Animals Have on our Lives
Some animals are for the sole purpose of food. Cows are a perfect example of this. They offer meat and milk to create dairy products. Chickens are another good example – they supply us with meat and eggs. Other animals are not meant to be used as food, but rather as pets. Kittens will always get you out of that bad mood by seeing just how much they enjoy their lives and live as if nothing will go wrong.
While some animals are being used as tools, many others are being used for companionship. This greatly depends on what you find pleasing to you. From snakes to dogs, any of them can be pets if you really love them enough to let them share the same house with you. Lonely people won’t be lonely anymore with some of these animals and better yet, some people find animals more comforting in times when they can’t really turn to human beings. Grannies will always have pets around them since no one visits them a lot and if you ask them, they find animals worth keeping.
Animals can also be useful in teaching caretaking skills to couples who haven’t had a baby yet. Animals have to be fed too just like you have to feed the baby. You have to take care of everything about a baby just the same way as you would with a pet animal in order to know that you are truly ready to handle what’s coming ahead. Some people out there use this as a way of knowing if their partners will be able to take care of a baby the right way, and if they fail the test, then it’s just bad news for them.
Other than that, animals may be used as a sign of wealth, especially in Africa where the number of animals you have dictates how rich you are. Paying for dowry is always in terms of animals which aren’t slaughtered immediately but kept for years to reproduce and in the end have more animals. In other parts of the world, animals aren’t just a sign of wealth but a source of wealth. Animals may be used in sport events such as horse racing or even ostrich racing though it is not that common. Besides sports, animals have been found quite useful for people undergoing rehabilitation since they are believed to be the best companions to such people.
Now that we have a rough idea of why animals are important to us, it is also good to know the disadvantages of them too. For pets, one might be allergic to some of the pets and thus it becomes too expensive for them to always keep on going to the doctor. Wild animals destroy crops or kill some of the animals that may be endangered or animals that we keep at home. Despite the disadvantages they have, it is still impossible to do without them for they are the ones that hold our lives in one way or another.
