Private Investigators are real people and have television-worthy day jobs. I have had an idea that Private Investigators would be a great focus for a television show. The following is a pitch for a new reality-type show that will follow private investigators and show the information they find. While the show will take on a reality-like feel it is not actually based on true events.

Private Eyes will star five private investigators located around the country. While the focus will be on the investigations and clients, some personal stories from the lives of the investigators will be included to give the show a continuous story line and stable character that viewers can follow.

The Investigators

Megan is a female investigator living and working in New York City. She is in her mid-forties and has been in this line of work for over ten years. She is married to Ted who travels a lot for work and since she specializes in infidelity cases it is ironic that Ted has been cheating on her with his male business partner.

Jeremiah works in Pittsburgh and lives in a rural suburb. He is in his late-twenties and has only been an investigator for a few months. He is currently shadowing his boss, Mike, and learning the ropes of the firm. Jeremiah is single and often becomes romantically interested in female clients or even female subjects who he is investigating. This stirs up some trouble at the firm and Jeremiah is ultimately asked to choose between a client who he has fallen in love with and his job.

Kevin works in the same Pittsburgh office as Jeremiah. He is in his late sixties and continually claims that he is going to retire in a few months. Kevin is passionate about his job and is the best in the firm. The other investigators are looking forward to Kevin’s retirement since he constantly outdoes them and makes them look bad to the boss (Mike).

Jerry lives and works in Las Vegas. He has a private contract with a large casino owner and specializes in finding the personal whereabouts of those who owe money. He will pass the information on to the casino employees who then commit gruesome acts in order to obtain the money owed. Jerry ends up doing some personal work for the casino owner as well when he thinks his management employees are stealing from him. This gets even more complicated when Jerry uncovers that his boss’s wife is stealing as well and she offers to pay him off to keep his mouth shut.

Martin works in both New York and Las Vegas. He is an investigator to the stars and helps celebrities keep stalkers at bay, follow their spouses to ensure fidelity and he also works on divorce and custody cases with celebrities. Martin does not only work with famous clients btu since his prices are so high the majority of his clientele are celebrities. Martin is gay and single, spending any personal time scouring both the east and west coasts for a partner. He constantly falls for his gay (and straight) clients but forces himself to keep work and pleasure separate. That is, until he meets Jesse.

Each episode of the show will follow all five investigators but some episodes will focus more on certain investigators as their storylines unfold.
